Ruffle is a Flash Player emulator written in Rust. Ruffle runs natively on all modern operating systems as a standalone application and in all modern browsers through the use of WebAssembly.
By leveraging the security of the modern browser sandbox and Rust's memory security guarantees, we can safely avoid all the security pitfalls Flash is famous for. Ruffle puts Flash back where it belongs, on the web, including browsers on iOS and Android!
Designed to be easy to use and set up, users or website owners can install the web version of Ruffle and existing flash content "just works" with no extra configuration required. Ruffle detects all available Flash content on a website and automatically "polyfills" it into a Ruffle player, allowing for smooth and transparent upgrading of websites that still rely on Flash content.
Ruffle is a completely open source project maintained by volunteers. We are all passionate about preserving internet history and have been interested in working on this project that will help protect many websites and lots of content that users can no longer access when they can no longer run the official Flash Player. If you'd like to help support this project, we welcome any contribution - even if it's just playing some old games and seeing how well they work.
